STORM WATCH: Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Long Island until 10 p.m.

Long Island will see a few afternoon storms and high temperatures near 88 today.

Storm Prediction Center has Long Island in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms. Level 2 out of 5.
A cold front will trigger showers and thunderstorms through 8 p.m., after the front passes Long Island we will see a beautiful weekend with sunshine and 80s. Fourth of July will have near perfect weather during the day and for the fireworks at night.
Timing of storms: A chance of showers and storms after 3 p.m. Most of the showers and storms will occur between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. People in Eisenhower park from 5 p.m. with storms approaching. Weather for the actually fireworks between 9 and 10 p.m. will be fine. Storms could have brief heavy rain, and strong gusty winds. Hail threat and tornado threat is very low. Some storms could be fast moving that people aren't prepared.
Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9 p.m. Skies start to clear west to east after 8 p.m. Sunset: 8: 27 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Independence Day: Great day for beach, pool and barbecue. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 67. Perfect weather for fireworks. West wind around 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 85. Great pool and beach weather.
Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 71.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86.
Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.
