Grab an Umbrella for Brunch Plans Today
A few lingering showers move through late Sunday morning and early afternoon. The good news? We’ll catch a brief break in the wet weather before it returns on Monday. Get ready for a brief winter chill after that. Temperatures drop dramatically Monday and it lasts most of the week.
Today's Forecast: Cloudy and Damp, But Improving Later
It's a cloudy Sunday, with a foggy morning along the coast and a passing shower between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Heavy rain is not expected —just light showers. Temperatures will hover in the 40s early on and will rise into the mid-50s by the afternoon. While the skies will remain mostly overcast, the second half of the day should be more pleasant. Don’t count on much sunshine, at best we'll see a few breaks in the clouds mid to late afternoon.
Wet Monday Ahead: Plan for a slow commute
Monday’s morning commute could be a messy one. Widespread steady showers will linger early and end in the afternoon. Morning temperatures will be in the low 40s, with foggy and overcast conditions. We expect about half an inch of rain in total—so give yourself some extra time to get out the door. The evening commute looks better but drizzle could linger.
Brace for Bitter Cold on Tuesday
While sunshine returns on Tuesday, it’s bringing winter-like temperatures with it. Morning lows will dip into the 30s, and despite some sunshine, afternoon highs will struggle to reach the mid-40s. Winds from the northwest at 20-30 mph will make it feel even colder, with wind chills in the teens during the morning and near 30°F by the afternoon. Bring the winter jacket with you.
Wednesday: The Coldest Morning of the Week
Wednesday morning will bring the week’s coldest temperatures, with lows expected near 30°F. Freezing temperatures could impact early-blooming trees like saucer magnolia. Fortunately, most spring bulbs and trees will be unaffected. Although it's colder than normal, it's not record breaking. Record lows are typically in the low 20s this time of year.
Rest Week Ahead: Chilly then Wet
Temperatures will remain below 50°F for much of the week, through Thursday. But there’s hope: more rain is in the forecast at the end of the week, especially Friday and Saturday, which should help end the current drought conditions. The rain will transition into a more favorable weather pattern by next Sunday, bringing drier and warmer conditions, with highs potentially reaching into the 70s—though that's a bit beyond the 10-day forecast.
In Summary: Clouds then cold.
  • Sunday: Cloudy, light showers between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., temperatures in the 40s, rising to the mid-50s in the afternoon.
  • Monday: Rain in the morning, cloudy in the afternoon. Highs in the 40s, with about half an inch expected.
  • Tuesday: Cold and windy, with highs in the mid-40s, and wind chills in the teens and 20s.
  • Wednesday: Morning lows near 30°F, potential for frost. Highs in the 40s.
  • End of the Week: More rain for Friday and Saturday, but warmer and drier weather is expected to return next week.
