FORECAST:
It will be a beautiful day before thunderstorms head for New Jersey this evening. Sunshine is expected along with highs near 92 degrees.
Thunderstorms are expected to arrive to Warren and Sussex counties as early as 4 p.m. and pass into central areas by 8 p.m. Storms begin to weaken as they move across New Jersey but can arrive abruptly with strong gusts, possibly severe. There will be localized downpours with these storms as they pass through also.
Storms reach central New Jersey (Middlesex/Mercer/Monmouth counties) by 7:30/8 p.m. where then they fizzle out. Lightning and thunder will be a greater concern in northern areas, with fewer lightning strikes as the storms move south. This doesn't make storms any safer, but it does limit the risk.
Most storms fizzle out by 9/930 p.m., which may clear the air in time for fireworks shows this evening.
The next few days look spectacular with warm summer sun, high temperatures in the upper-80s and low-90s, and great beach weather.
