A winter storm watch is in effect for Orange County Thursday afternoon through Friday morning for heavy snow and possible light ice accumulation.

Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Matt Hammer says to expect heavy wet snow in the area at the end of the week.

THURSDAY - STORM WATCH: Cloudy and cold. Snow (mix south of I-287) arrives by 2 p.m. Heavy, wet snow for the evening commute. Mix to rain south of I-84 at night. Temperatures increase through the 30s to even low-40s. Wind gusts 25-35+ mph, especially closer to the coast overnight Thursday into Friday morning.
FRIDAY - STORM WATCH: Rain, heavy at times, for southern sections. Snow, heavy at times, for northern sections. Highs into the 40s south, 30s north. Wind gusts 20-30+ mph. Lows crash back to the 20s at night with precipitation ending into the evening.
THIS WEEKEND: Mix of sun and clouds. Cold again. Breezy at times, which will add a wind chill. Highs in the mid- to upper-30s and low-40s, lows in the mid- to low-20s.
NEXT WEEK: Colder air moves back in, highs in the 30s and 40s, lows in the teens/20s to start and snow is on the horizon again by Wednesday/Thursday.
