Roads across the Hudson Valley are steadily improving following the snowfall.

Roads were covered early this morning as the snow was falling at a good clip, and big fat fluffy flakes that made it hard to see.

DPW crews from the White Plains yard were out in full force, pretreating the roads ahead of the snow and then out with the big plows as the flakes fell. "We started at midnight. We had our salters come in, and they started salting everything. And the plows came in at 4 so they're out there doing their thing," said White Plains Deputy Commissioner Stefania Mignone.

Most people seemed to stay home or delay the start of their workday as roads were fairly quiet, and that made it easier for plows to move around and clear things up.

By about 8:30, the snow had basically stopped. There was a bit to shovel and clear, but the Hudson Valley has seen worse. "It's not too bad, it's pretty light - nothing's really sticking so it's pretty good," said Isaac Samuels, of Mount Vernon.
