Consequently, gas prices remained relatively stable over the weekend. According to AAA, prices fluctuated slightly since last Thursday before the national average settled at $3.61 per gallon. As everyone returns to work and school, here's the current pump situation:
Westchester: $3.85 per gallon
Rockland: $3.84 per gallon
Putnam County: $3.72 per gallon
These prices are compared to the statewide average of $3.67 per gallon.
The storms did impact some drivers' travel plans, causing them to slow down and exercise extra caution. One driver emphasized the importance of staying safe on the roads during the summer storm season.
"The best thing is don't panic and don't slam your brakes. A lot of people tend to panic quickly; their first instinct is to hit the brakes. Once you hit the brakes, your car hydroplanes, and then you lose control," says Ravin H. of Schenectady.
In the skies, the TSA reported that Friday was the busiest screening day in its history, with nearly three million people screened. This record-breaking day could be a precursor to a historic summer of travel.
