Rockland County announces first budget surplus since 2006

For the first time in over a decade, Rockland County is out of the red.
Officials say the county has a positive unassigned fund balance for the first time since 2006.
The fund balance is now over $6 million, according to Rockland County Executive Ed Day.
The county faced bankruptcy in 2014.
According to Day, the county's goal is to eventually have a surplus of $50 million.
