Stratford nonprofit launches scholarship fund for LGBTQ+ community
Health Care Advocates International (HCAI) in Stratford has just launched the Dr. Gary Blick Scholarship to help people in the LGBTQ+ community pay for college or secondary school.
The fund is named after HCAI’s Chief Medical Officer, who is also co-founder of an HIV clinic in Zimbabwe.
“Being a member of the LGBTQ community, I've experienced a lot of stigma and discrimination in my life…so I think it's very important that this money be available for the LBGTQ community," said Dr. Blick.
The scholarship considers financial need, and also the student’s efforts and plans to make change in support of that community.
