Middle school students at Our Lady of Mount Carmel spent their Saturday by giving back to their school.
The students are sprucing up their school garden as part of their confirmation, and they have been budgeting the garden's expenses in their math class.
Students say the project is important to them, since they get to spend time with one another, attain some hands-on experience gardening and lend some help to the school that has helped them, too.
The first step in the process is to remove weeds in the lot. Then, after a few weeks, the mulching phase will begin. By spring, they hope to transform the empty lot into a beautiful garden the whole community can enjoy.
