Suffern police arrested 21 people Friday morning during what they call the biggest operation in the history of the village.
The drug raids occurred in Suffern, as well as in other locations in Rockland County and New Jersey. Officials say it is the culmination of a 10-month investigation into marijuana and cocaine trafficking in Suffern.
"We definitely put a major, major dent in narcotics trafficking throughout the area with this sweep," says Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn.
The suspects are facing numerous drug possession and weapons charges. Police say several of them may also be in the country illegally.
Additional arrests are expected in the coming days.
