Members of the Suffern Police Department are playing the part of Santa for needy families.
Chief Clarke Osborne started the toy drive in 1991, when he was hired. He says when he started he had a police car with a trunk full of toys. Osborne says the drive has now grown to something the whole department is committed to. He says they work with local businesses, community members, different community groups that have consistently donated to the toy drive for 16 years.
The toys collected will go to about 100 local families. Volunteers say it is nice to see people helping others in need.
