A 38-year-old man remains in critical but stable condition over three weeks after police say he was stabbed while attempting to break up a fight in Mott Haven.

The NYPD is now asking for the public's help identifying the man they say is responsible for the Oct. 16 attack.

According to police, the victim saw two people fighting in front of 2413 Third Ave. just after 10:30 p.m.

Detectives say when the victim tried to intervene, a man involved in the fight threatened him, took out a knife and stabbed the 38-year-old in the back.

Paramedics rushed the man to Lincoln Hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition as of Saturday evening.

The NYPD urges anyone with information to call its Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
