A Rockland County teenager has overcome his disabilities to become a member of his high school football team.
Courtney Burrell has cerebral palsy, a condition that has left the 14-year-old freshman in a wheelchair, unable to sit up or eat on his own.
The team's coach said Burrell made the cut because he is willing to work. He helps the team by handing out water at all games and practices.
Burrell's service coordinator at the non-profit Jawonio Center, which helps children with special needs, spoke with the coach about getting the boy involved after he expressed a strong interest in joining the team.
His family says it has been a great experience for him.
