A planned terrorism drill at Middletown High School is taking on added meaning after Thursday?s fatal shooting rampage at Northern Illinois University.
Parents say it?s increasingly important to make sure safety measures in schools are in place and are effective. After the NIU shooting that left six dead, they say violence can happen anywhere.
The Feb. 19 police drill will include several scenarios, Lt. James Corcoran says. An armored truck will transport the Middletown Emergency Response Team to the school for the eight-hour drill.
Middletown High School Security Director Ken Haverlan says protecting the kids is a top priority.
