The upcoming holiday prompts changes to the trash pickup schedule in our area:

In Mount Vernon:

• Today's schedule includes newspaper and cardboard pickups on the north side, while garbage collection will occur on the south side.

• On Thanksgiving Day, there will be no trash pickup services.

In Orange County today:

• Trash pickups are scheduled in Highland Falls and Fort Montgomery.

• However, on Friday Nov. 24, recycling services will be suspended in Fort Montgomery, and collections will not take place.
