Four adorable huskies rescued by Suffolk officials are looking for a home.

They were rescued in March from Snow Drift Kennels in Blue Point by the Suffolk District Attorney's BEAST Unit, a unit that prosecutes animal and environmental crimes. The case is still ongoing.

"They've never had a bed. They've never had any human love. They have been isolated their entire lives," says BEAST Team Leader Jed Painter. "It got to the point where we knew the animals inside the kennel were being neglected and almost to the point of death."

All four are looking for their forever homes.

One of them is 4 years old. The others are between the ages of 1 and 3 years old.

"Whether it's a rescue who wants to get involved or individuals who are looking for an animal, they really could use some love," says Painter.

The BEAST Unit has saved thousands of animals since it was started in 2022.

"Dogs and cats, horses, bulls, snakes, birds, you name it, BEAST has been involved with it," says Painter. "We have cases with 300 and 400 animals at a time."

A lot of work goes into rescuing and caring for animals the BEAST team rescues but they say it's worth it when animals can get adopted.

"Quite often we see these situations of mass neglect," says Painter. "They have that emotional recovery as well as the physical recovery and then when it's safe and when it's appropriate, we can work with the rescue to adopt them out."
