The life of the Pace University student shot and killed by police almost two weeks ago was celebrated in Boston Friday, just miles from his hometown, on the day that would have marked his 21st birthday.
About 2,000 family members, friends, teammates and even strangers packed the Boston Convention Center where a memorial service was held for Danroy Henry.
Henry was shot during an encounter with police outside of Finnegan's Grill in Thornwood. Police say Henry tried to flee in his car, hitting several officers in the process, but witnesses have claimed that police jumped in front of Henry's car and opened fire.
Mourners offered a round of applause and tears as the Henry family joined the ceremony. Friends and loved ones wrote messages for Henry and shared memories about his life.
