If the salt trucks haven't passed by your area yet, expect the road conditions this morning to be slick and slippery. At news. Twelve's Nadia Galindo this morning is in thunderbolt 12 tracking the conditions right now. How's the saw mill looking this morning, Nadia. Hey, good morning. So right now the sawmill is looking pretty good. We're just hearing Yonkers on the sawmill. I'm going to give you a look at what it looks like outside. Here's the front view and you can see that while the road is plowed and salted, there are still some slick spots. There's some snow there on the road where you can see us going right here past Executive Boulevard and heading towards Dobbs ferry going north on sawmill. And that's kind of what we're seeing across the area here that there's still snow on the ground. You can see looking out to our right of the thunderbolts 12, but the road is still kind of slick. There's just some icy patches. You definitely want to take it slow on the roads when I was outside. It looks like we got about and dusting to an inch of snow. At least from what I could tell at station. So looking out on the roads though, it's just, it's just definitely, it's looking good. It's looking good as you drive down sawmill and looks like DPW crews. They've been out hard working all night salting the roads, treating the roads, making sure that that morning commute is going to be easy. But I was in Mount Vernon yesterday talking to DPW Crews and they said the main thing they wanted to let people is that you do need to give yourself some extra time as you head out the door to school to work. A lot of people are going to be getting on the roads heading back to school and work after the holiday weekend and you don't want to be that person who was rushing and risk getting in an accident. So definitely take it slow as you head out the door. That ladies from the 12, I'm Nadia G 12.

We'll take a look at that coming up in a few moments. But first things first, we want to take a look over towards Nadia Galindo who's out in White Plains. How are things looking on the roads for you in Thunderbolt 12 Julia, we're seeing a lot of black top on the roadways driving through downtown White Plains right now. Take a look at Mamaroneck Avenue right here where all the shops and restaurants are. Look at all that beautiful black top. It is just really nice driving conditions here. You can see DPW crews really got to this road and plowed. There is a plow going by right there. We've also seen out salting the roads. So DPW crew is really hard at work and this is nothing new to them, right? They've been waiting all season for snow. We got some last week and now we've got some more here over to our left. There's some people out there. Oh, that's the fire department salting their driveway over there. Let me see if I can change this view. Here we go. I'm new to this camera thing here. Usually Lisa Lro is out here doing a beautiful job, you can see the sidewalks that, that's probably hard going a little slippery. There's a person walking there. You're better off driving than walking. It looks like here on Mamaroneck Avenue. So, uh, you know, taking the highways and the roads, it's, there are some spots you're going to see some snow on parts of the roads that haven't really been hit, but there's usually a path you can go on. So just, you know, make sure to take that path. Speaking with DPW crews over the weekend, they're just urging people to take extra time in the morning to get to your destination. They know people have to go to work. They know people need to take their kids to school. But as you see, even though there is black top, there's lots of water on the surface of the road and there's pockets of water. Julie was talking about the temperatures going down and the freezing element later on is going to also be a concern. So you don't want to get too confident. Somebody there shoveling on the sidewalk. You don't want to get too confident, just, you know, practice your patience, take extra time where you're heading out today and you know, everybody else is in the same boat as you. We also want to check conditions over in Suffern. That's where Katharina Balala is standing by right now. Kat, what does it look like over there for you?

I would argue this is the season's first true test of winter driving. So be aware there's going to be slick and slippery conditions. As you head out news twelve's Nadia Galindo is in Valhalla. Now, Nadia, you started in Yonkers making your way north on the sawmill. How was your ride and, uh, fill us in on those road conditions. So we actually just hit a pocket of snow on the roadway and it caused the car to kind of slide even though we're going less than 30 MPH. We are right here by the Kensico Dam. Take a look at the conditions. You can see there are a lot of trucks on the roads right now. Plowing and salting, but right now it's pretty wet. Um There are again, pockets of snow. You can actually see some on the surface there that, uh there, there's some ice, snow is still falling. Let's take a look outside Thunderbolt 12 and just kind of look around the scene here. Um You can see all the cars are covered with snow. You're going to have to wipe off your cars before you get in the roads this morning. Um, sidewalks are not looking great. People haven't really gotten to those yet. People are just barely waking up and, and looking out the door, looking out the window. Um, but we are seeing more cars on the road. We're right here by the Taconic and, um, yeah, you can just see it. It's, uh, there we go. There's a better shot. You can see the road surface wet and lots of, uh, snow falling and then still some snow on the road, slushy conditions. We all know there's those pockets when you're driving to your destination. Um I know for myself, I go on the cross county and there's some pockets there that always fill with water. Those pockets are probably going to have some slush this morning, slush snow. Um So speaking with DPW Crews, they've been saying that you should definitely give yourself some extra time heading out the door. Lots of people are going to be on the roads coming back from the holiday weekend. So just give yourself some extra time to make it safely to your destination. That's lace from Thunderbolt 12. But we're gonna take things over where we are gonna be switching gears for thunderbolt 12 heading into Nadia Galindo, who is in Mount Pleasant. How are things over by you? Good morning Julian. Yes, we are in Mount Pleasant, right on the Taconic State Parkway and it looks much different here. In fact, plows just went down this parkway. Take a look. The road has got some snow, it's icy. It's definitely a road that you want to go slow on because of those patches. And like I said, we just saw two plows go north and southbound on the Taconic right here in the area of Mount going up towards Hawthorne. That's where we're going to hit next and look at that roadway. It is just frozen over. Very cold outside. We're still seeing some flurries, we'll see if we can give you a different view of what we're seeing around here. All right. So the road is just really, oh, let's go down there we go. Let's get it clear for you. And you can see the road has got a lot of icy snowy conditions there. So definitely one of the roads that you want to take it slow on look. It's kind of clearing up right here. More black top. This is kind of what we saw in Southern West Chester, down near Yonkers and White Plains. A lot more black top like this, but the Dacon definitely parts of it. You can see a lot more cars are on the road as people are waking up and heading out the door, speaking with DPW crews over the weekend, they say they are asking drivers to just really give themselves extra time because not every road is going to look like this. You can expect the road conditions to be slick and slippery this morning and that's why Thunderbolt 12 is out there monitoring the conditions. Nadia Galindo has made her way to Millwood. Now, Nadia give us an update. Good morning as Tara said, they are slick and slippery the roads out and about we were just off on the taconic and there's parts of it that still have snow and slush on it. But take a look where we are now in Millwood on Sor Town Turnpike and you can see there's some black top, but there's also still snow on the top of the roadway. And uh, we are a lot of plows out and about, uh really tackling the snow. But we wanted to give you a different look than the parkways and all the highways, uh, kind of the back roads of what a lot of people are going to be waking up to and, and having to drive out of, to get to work and get to school. So again here on Sommers Town Turnpike, um we actually, when we stopped and had to start up again, the tires kind of slipped because the road even though, if it looks black, it's slippery, it's cold out there, I'm sure there's some pockets that are freezing. We've seen a lot of slush, you know, in your commute to wherever you're going, there's always going to be some pockets and that's something you want to be careful to drive through. Just kind of take it slow because those pockets can really be dangerous. And, you know, speaking to DPW crews over the weekend, they are really urging drivers to, to take that extra time because it is pretty snowy out there. And here a side look from Thunderbolt 12, you can see the snow that's accumulated overnight and, you know, people driving out their driveways are going to either have to shovel or take it slow, getting out to shovel the snow off your cars. But we want to give you another look at what things look like over in Rockland County. That is where Catarina Bealles is standing by with more cat.

Taking a look over towards Thunderbolt 12 where we are having our own Nadia Galino out in Thunderbolt 12. How are things looking on the roadways for you? Juliet? Exactly what you said snow is starting to fall in Northern Westchester. We're seeing a light snow falling here in Yorktown Heights. We are on the Taconic State Parkway. Take a look at the road conditions. Now, we just saw an envoy of trucks pass through this area. They're much further ahead, even with three trucks lined up, going down the Taconic. You can see that the road conditions are still very icy. Slushy. Snow is still falling and accumulating. So we are seeing slow going on the Taconic State Parkway here up in Yorktown Heights. Let me give you a side look. It's a really picturesque scene out here. Just really beautiful. Let's zoom around to the back of Thunderbolt 12 just to give you a look at what's going on here. So we're seeing a lot more cars on the roadways, but again, just slow going. There's patches of slush that you want to watch out for as you head out the door, lots of snow on the sides of the roads, some of the roads we did see this morning. There's.

If you are out riding around this morning, you already know that the roads are slick in some spots, pretty slippery in others. And we're not through this just yet. News 12, Nadia Galindo was in Thunderbolt 12, checking out the conditions, not a war. You this time we are in Croton on Hudson right now and we are taking a look at the road conditions in this area right by the Croton Harmon train station. Take a look outside and you can see there's a lot of black top that's good. But the cars you see there, they're all covered in snow. So a lot of people we're seeing coming out, they are now clearing their cars of that snow and it looks like we're going to wrap around and get here on route nine going southbound. Look at this bridge right here. Lots of snow on the surface. This is what we've been seeing all morning long. There are some surfaces that look like this that have been plowed but you know, still accumulating some snow and still slick. You definitely don't want to go fast on a turn around like we just did. So we're taking it slow and now we're going to get on route nine. This is a side road. It looks like we're getting on and that is a lot of snow on the surface. Definitely slick. If you stop, you want to make sure you don't push too hard down on the gas because you could definitely see yourself skidding. Um, but yeah, we've seen a lot of crews out plowing the roadways all morning long, putting salt on the roadways. But even with that, we're still seeing these kind of slick traveling conditions, but more cars on the roadway and we're going to continue monitoring this for you, but for now I'm going to send it back to you guys in the studio.

Road conditions are a little dicey out there. Some spots will be very slick and slippery for you if you have to head out. These 12, Nadia Gino is in Thunderbolt 12 tracking the conditions and the roadways for us. Nadia. Hi there. We're here on the Saw Mill River parkway about Dobbs ferry area heading out of Greenberg. Going south. Take a look at what the road conditions look like here. Beautiful black top. That is what we're seeing here. Now, the conditions vary on roads across the Hudson Valley. We've been up and down from Northern Westchester, Southern Westchester and some spots. There's more accumulation on the road even though we see a lot of trucks out there plowing the roads and putting salt down. So especially those back roads. Those are the ones that you really want to take it slow on and oh, look at this camera. It's really covered in that water you see there, but going back to the front of thunder bolt bolt 12, you can see that the road look pretty good cars moving pretty steadily here. Again, other parts of the Hudson Valley much slower going because of the conditions, especially those side roads and bridges, things like that. But yeah, definitely want to give yourself some extra time wherever you are heading today because of those slick spots you're going to find on the roadways for now.
