An emergency medical technician in Orange County who was recently named “employee of the month” at work has been arrested by state police for allegedly stealing from a patient while on duty.
Authorities say 37-year-old Max Reiter, of Pine Bush, is charged with misdemeanor petit larceny for an incident that occurred on March 14, while he was working for Town of Wallkill EMS.
Reiter is accused of stealing money from a patient’s personal belongings while the victim was in his care during transport.
He was arrested March 26 after the alleged incident was reported to state police in Middletown.
The EMT was named employee of the month by the Town of Wallkill EMS in November. A representative tells News 12 that he’s no longer employed there.
Reiter was given an appearance ticket and is due in Wallkill Town court April 23.
A phone number News 12 obtained for Reiter is disconnected. News 12 reached out by email for comment but has not heard back.
