The town of Fairfield held a Pride flag raising Monday.
First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick was joined by elected officials, community leaders and clergy members for the ceremony at Town Hall.
The event also featured student speakers who shared their experiences.
Organizers says it's important to encourage everyone to be themselves.
"June is Pride Month, so here in Fairfield we are celebrating the LBGTQ+ communities and we are here to support them and to show that Fairfield is a loving and affirming town,” says organizer John Brannelly.
The flag will fly for a full week and come down on the 52nd anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in New York City.
