People in Hudson Valley looking to get away for the Memorial Day weekend had to deal with traffic tie-ups and high gas prices Friday.
A driver was airlifted to the hospital with internal injuries after her car was rear-ended at the Woodbury Toll Plaza. Another driver on the Saw Mill River Parkway managed to escape injury after a huge tree branch came crashing down on her car. The incident forced the parkway to close for about an hour.
AAA says more than 38 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home over the next four days, which is an increase from last year. Some travelers in the Hudson Valley said they changed their holiday plans because of the high gas prices. However, many others said they will continue with their plans despite the rising costs.
