The New York state Department of Temporary and Disability Assistance in collaboration with the Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence will be conducting training for hundreds of human services workers on gender-based violence.
This initiative is part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Staff members will receive training on the nature of sexual harassment and domestic violence, state standards and procedures for preventing harassment and violence, and ways to ensure the confidentiality of personal information related to victims seeking assistance.
Over 6,500 workers must complete the training by Nov. 30, and both offices are offering it every workday this month to meet that goal.
