Truck driver trapped, injured in Wurtsboro crash

A truck driver involved in a in a collision in Sullivan County Tuesday was pinned inside their vehicle for hours, according to state police.
Authorities say a loaded dump truck and an 18-wheeler collided just before 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Wurtsboro Mountain Road and Route 209 in the Village of Wurtsboro.
The Rock Hill Fire Department posted on Facebook that one driver was removed from their vehicle shortly before rescuers arrived, but that another was trapped, requiring three hours of assistance to remove them from the truck.
State police say that driver was taken by medevac helicopter to a trauma center with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Both truck drivers involved are expected to be OK.
Several residents reached out to News 12, including one who witnessed the crash and provided photos. They say the accident caused a power outage that impacted some Orange and Rockland utility customers overnight.
The crash is the second at the intersection involving commercial vehicles within weeks.
State police say the cause is under investigation.
