TSA predicts near record-high air travel ahead of the holidays
The most crowded days at airports across the country are expected to be Thursday, Dec. 21, Friday Dec. 29, and Monday, Jan. 1.

5ds agoThe Transportation Security Administration is predicting this holiday season will bring a near record-high number of passengers flying.
“Planning and packing properly can facilitate the TSA security screening process and ease a passenger’s travel experience at the airport,” said Thomas Carter, TSA Federal security director.
TSA is expected to screen more than 2.5 million passengers each day on average during the holidays. The most crowded days at airports across the country are expected to be Thursday, Dec. 21, Friday Dec. 29, and Monday, Jan. 1.
It was noticeably busier at the Westchester County Airport, with slightly longer lines to be screened at TSA, as well as baggage pick-up and drop-off.
Airport limo driver Daryl Graham said he's been much busier recently.
"It has been really crazy the last couple of nights. The cars are backed up all the way to the jet plane out there, so it's really picking up," he said.
As of 5 p.m., only one arriving flight was canceled into Westchester County Airport and all others were on time or arriving early. All departures except for a JetBlue flight to Fort Lauderdale were leaving as expected.
Airport security officials say preparing ahead of your arrival at the airport will help move the process along and get you to your destination more quickly.
TSA recommends getting to the airport at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight, knowing what can and cannot go into your carry-on bag, and not wrapping gifts ahead of time because they will have to be unwrapped if they trigger an alarm.
Overall, more than 115 million Americans are expected to travel over the Christmas and New Year's holidays, according to AAA. Making it the second-highest year-end travel forecast since 2000.
