Two former police officers in Tuxedo Park could be facing charges for allegedly scamming thousands of dollars worth of overtime they weren't entitled to, according to officials.
An investigation by the village revealed John Reilly and Louis Hock may have been forging the overtime hours. One officer may have forged as much as $40,000 in bogus overtime. Details of the investigation were leaked to a newspaper this week.
Reilly?s attorney said the hours his client is accused of faking can be explained by paperwork errors. He said Reilly did work the hours he submitted but sometimes the hours were not physically spent at the police department.
Tuxedo Park residents said they found the allegations disturbing.
The accusations come just a month after the department's former chief pleaded guilty to taking money from the department. After that, officials began taking a closer look at the department.
Reilly and Hock will be back in Orange County Court in the next few weeks and decide whether they will take a plea deal.
