Two patrol cars were hit during a high-speed police chase in Rockland Monday night.
Police attempted to pull over 47-year-old James Soto, of New City, after they spotted him running a red light while leaving the Palisades Mall. Soto refused to pull over and led troopers on a seven-mile chase. Officers were eventually able to box Soto in with two police cars. That?s when police say Soto rammed one patrol car and then backed into the other. Police say Soto, who doesn?t have a drivers license, has a long criminal history including more than 30 arrests and two DWI convictions.
Soto is charged with DWI and resisting arrest among other charges. He is being held at Rockland County Jail without bail.
