The Ulster County Department of Health is warning people of possible dangers when it comes to portable generators.


Officials say if they aren't used properly, they could produce carbon monoxide.


The department says to never use a portable generator inside your home, even if the doors and windows are open.


Officials also advise the generator is more than 20 feet away from your home, and to make sure carbon monoxide detectors are installed in your home.
