The Ulster County Sheriff's Office aided in two water rescues Monday, both in response to challenging weather conditions.

The first incident involved a 15-foot sailboat with two individuals on board that capsized near Rondout Creek, occurring just before 2:30 p.m. Although emergency officials discovered the boat empty, they later learned that the occupants had been rescued by a passing vessel and safely transported to Rhinecliff Landing on the Dutchess County side.

Simultaneously, in the Saugerties area, there was another water rescue underway on Esopus Creek. A pontoon boat carrying eight people encountered a perilous situation as it nearly flipped due to the adverse weather conditions. Fortunately, the skilled vessel operator managed to navigate the boat to a dock, ensuring the safe disembarkation of all passengers.

Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the Ulster County Sheriff's Office's swift response and effective actions resulted in successful outcomes for both incidents, ensuring the safety of those involved.
