A candlelight vigil is being held this evening in White Plains to mark the third anniversary of the fatal police shooting of Kenneth Chamberlain Senior.
As News 12 previously reported, 68-year-old Chamberlain was shot and killed in his apartment in 2011. Police responded to Chamberlin's home, after his medical alert device was accidentally activated. Officers knocked down the door after he refused to let them in, then investigators say Chamberlain lunged at them with a knife.
No charges were brought against any of the officers involved, but Chamberlain's family has filed a $21 million lawsuit against the city.
The candlelight vigil is scheduled to begin tonight at 6 p.m., in front of the Public Safety Building on South Lexington Avenue in White Plains.
