The Wallkill community is in shock Friday after a tragic accident claimed the lives of two high school students.
Police say a car carrying four Wallkill High School students crossed into the other lane on Route 300 at around 7:15 a.m. and crashed head on into a SUV. Andrew Davis, 17, and John Lopez, 15, were killed and the other two teens along with the driver of the SUV were injured. When students learned the news, many left school early. Others were able to speak with grief counselors, who will also be on hand next week to help students cope with the losses.
Police say speed not the weather was a factor in the crash.
