If you noticed some new colors on the Gov. Mario Cuomo
Bridge Thursday night, you have the Walter Panas Girls Varsity Basketball team
to thank.
To recognize the school's first-ever state championship win,
the bridge was lit up in the school's colors of blue and gold.
"This victory has brought great pride to the Lakeland
community, and it reflects the incredible potential that our students have to
achieve greatness," a release from the school reads.
"The Walter Panas Girls Varsity Basketball team has set
an inspiring example for all eight schools, and their achievement serves as a
reminder of the importance of hard work, dedication, and perseverance in the
pursuit of success," it continued.
