Officials say the break happened around 3:30 a.m. today in front of the Hook and Ladder building.
Emergency construction crews from Veolia are on scene for repair work.
The sidewalk is also blocked off due to running water.
Village officials advise avoiding the area until repairs are complete.
Motorists can expect delays and should seek alternative routes into downtown Hastings.
