Waterbury middle school teacher accused of leaving children home alone for 2 days

A Waterbury middle school teacher is accused of leaving two children home alone while she traveled out of the state, police say.
Kerry Lyn Caviasca was arrested on Saturday
Police say she was responsible for the children who are both under 12 years old.
She was charged with risk of injury to a minor.
Caviasca teaches at West Side Middle School in the Waterbury school district.
Waterbury Public Schools released a statement saying in part, "The school district has been informed of a pending allegation against a staff member and that the alleged actions do not represent the values of our district."
Caviasca is currently on leave from the West Side Middle School pending allegations.
