In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a group of women in Rockland County are making a significant impact in the fight against the disease.
The "We Fight Like a Girl" fundraiser, now in its 10th year, was founded by long-time friends from North Rockland after one of them discovered she had the BRCA gene in her 20s, increasing her breast cancer risk.
Since its inception, the event has raised thousands for the Young Survival Coalition, a nonprofit supporting women under 40 diagnosed with breast cancer.
This year's event will take place at the Garner Arts Center on Oct. 18, aiming to raise $15,000.
