Westchester County has earmarked $3 million to build affordable homes in the Town of Mamaroneck.
While the project is still in the planning stages and an exact site has not been named, Westchester County Executive George Latimer emphasized that it's a significant win for the county and Mamaroneck.
"This area is one where affordable housing is at a premium. This is a desirable place to live, as is much of Westchester County. When we want to make a project affordable, we have to add public money in some way, shape or form to reduce the overall cost," said Latimer.
Latimer also noted that approximately 2,500 units of affordable housing have been built across the county under his administration.
