Westchester County executive leads 2025 State of the County Address

The 2025 Westchester State of the County Address was held Wednesday evening in the White Plains' Michaelian Office Building, and offered insight into Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins current and upcoming plans for the county.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins was welcomed into the chambers with a roar of clapping and lengthy standing ovation.

On Wednesday, he addressed his constituents and community regarding his current and upcoming programs and initiatives for residents.

He voiced his opposition to the proposed Con Edison rate hikes and the closure of the White Plains Social Security hearing office.

Following months of uncertainty, Jenkins also addressed the fate of Rye Playland.

"Playland is more than just a park; it is a cherished treasure....My intentions remain to open Playland for the 2025 season," said Jenkins.

Other topics mentioned were the prioritization of health through the "Opioid Response and Overdose Prevention Initiative," improving transportation through revitalization of the County's Bee-Line Buses and the Westchester County Airport and making room for new green initiatives.

Jenkins also minimally addressed gun violence through his work with the Westchester County Gun Violence Prevention Task force, and in more depth, his current and upcoming initiatives regarding affordable housing.
