Westchester County Executive George Latimer has officially submitted his resignation, marking the end of his tenure as county executive.
Latimer's resignation comes as he prepares to be sworn into his seat in Congress on Jan. 3.
In a statement, Latimer expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as county executive, calling it the "greatest honor" of his life.
He also shared his optimism for the county's future, believing that Westchester's "best days are ahead."
Latimer's resignation will take effect on Jan. 2 at 12:01 p.m.
