The Westchester County Department of Health has issued a sewage advisory for recreational activities on the Hudson River.
The department says it was informed by the county Department of Environmental Facilities that partially treated sewage was going to be released into the Hudson River at River Street in Sleepy Hollow due to a water main break.
As a result, the county Department of Health says there will be a probable environmental impact to the surrounding waters and that contact with the sewage could be a health threat.
The county Department of Health is advising all recreational boaters and swimmers to refrain from activities that involve contact with the Hudson River from Peekskill to Yonkers until further notice.
