Westchester County held a ceremony to honor the more than 1,500 residents in the community who have died from coronavirus.

The ceremony was held at the "Ribbons of Remembrance" memorial site at Lenoir Preserve in Yonkers.

County Executive George Latimer paid tribute to victims of the virus, including late Eastchester Town Councilman Glenn Bellitto.

He had been serving on the town board for nearly a decade until he died in early April from the coronavirus.

"It's a scar to talk about COVID and not remember the people who died," Latimer said.

Anybody can visit the memorial and write the name of the loved one they lost to the virus on a ribbon.
