The Westchester Medical Center, located in Valhalla, has proudly announced its Level 4 accreditation for its exceptional care of patients with complex epilepsy.
This prestigious designation, awarded by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers, represents the highest level of recognition in the field.
According to Dr. Manisha Holmes, a representative from Westchester Medical Center, achieving Level 4 accreditation means they can provide comprehensive care for patients with refractory epilepsy. This includes individuals with newly diagnosed epilepsy as well as those who have not responded well to medication. The center offers a range of treatment options, including surgery, which is often the best chance for patients to achieve seizure freedom.
It's important to note that separate accreditations are given for adult and pediatric epilepsy centers. The Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Valhalla is also recognized as a Level 4 epilepsy center.
