A Westchester mother desperate for a kidney transplant now has three possible matches for her lifesaving surgery, thanks to the efforts of three local sisters.
Maddy Santos, 44, works in Westchester and has been searching for a kidney donor for over a year.
The local nonprofit the Flood Sisters Kidney Foundation reached out to News 12 on Monday in an effort to get Santos’ story out there and connect with eligible donors.
Jennifer, Cynthia and Heather Flood launched the foundation in 2008 after finding a kidney donor for their father through Craigslist.
The sisters say since News 12’s report about Santos’ case, three people have come forward to test to see if they are a match to be altruistic kidney donors.
Santos needs a kidney donor with an A or O blood type, and is currently registered at Yale New Haven Hospital.
For more information and to test if you're a match for someone in need, you can respond directly to the foundation's website or email jennifer@floodsisterskidneyfnd.org.
