The number of active coronavirus cases is almost as low as they were before the holiday spike in November.

While the numbers are improving in Westchester, the Mid-Hudson region as a whole is still among the highest infection rates statewide.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer hopes that will improve as more vaccines roll out. "We're pretty confident we're going to be over 50% of this county vaccinated, and now that we're not worrying about what you do for a living, we're not worried about whether you have comorbidities, what your age is, it's open opportunity, we think that's the best possible place to reach the greatest number of people."
Several additional pop-up vaccination sites are coming to Westchester in just a few days, including on Thursday and Friday at the Port Chester Senior Center.
The county is right in line with the national average. The White House says that by the end of this week, nearly half of all adults are expected to be vaccinated. The CDC says nearly 46% of the population over 18 has received at least one dose of the vaccine and about 28% is fully vaccinated.
