The Westchester County Police Department is recognizing its Conditions and Surface Transportation Unit for an extraordinary body of work in 2022.
That includes the unit's role in helping with ghost gun investigations, supporting federal agencies' work, and finding wanted suspects and stolen cars throughout the county.
Last year, the three-member unit made 159 arrests, found 49 stolen cars, and seized the following:
$1.4 million in cash
48 firearms and 37 major components of firearms
80 pounds of heroin or fentanyl
18 pounds of cocaine
400 pounds of marijuana
290 illegal prescription pills
Credit also goes to the unit’s drug detection dog, Liberty, who was also at the awards ceremony.
