The Westport Chamber of Commerce is trying to give some local restaurants a boost with the Great Westport Sandwich Contest.

Community leaders announced the contest at the Manna Toast on Church Lane Monday. For 2021, the yearly Chamber of Commerce competition focuses on all things served on bread.

Manna Toast opened last year during the pandemic. Owner Molly Healey focuses on locally baked breads and healthy meatless options.

Nearby Mystic Market puts a special emphasis on sandwiches of all kinds. Chef Ashley Boucaud has faith that her crispy chicken sandwich will take home the gold.

Restaurants say a return to some normalcy is its own prize.
