Two Village of Chester residents were arrested on Wednesday after a 2-month-long investigation into the local sale of fentanyl and narcotics. 

The investigation was conducted by the Village of Chester police and the Orange County Drug Task Force. 

Authorities charged Richard Mapp and Martine Arline, both 38, after executing a search warrant at their residence in Whispering Hills. They say one bundle of fentanyl, two pressed fentanyl pills, assorted steroid pills and $8,310 in cash were seized. 

Authorities say investigations like these save lives. 

"If you sell, possess or traffic drugs in the Village of Chester, we are coming for you,” says Village of Chester Police Chief Timothy McGuire. “We will relentlessly pursue narcotics that plague our communities and those that traffic them.” 

Mapp was charged with menacing, harassment and criminal possession of a forged instrument. Arline was charged with assault, harassment and criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell. 

"No area is immune to dangerous drugs; this problem is widespread in every community. No amount of illegal drugs is acceptable. The realization that a minuscule amount of fentanyl can kill you or a loved one is not something to take lightly,” says Sheriff Paul Arteta. 

Both Mapp and Arline are in Orange County Jail.
