June is Men's Health Month, a time to raise awareness about serious health issues that disproportionately affect men, including heart attacks, heart disease, and diabetes.
The key to preventing these problems is a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and screenings.
Dr. Douglas Hart, director of echocardiography at White Plains Hospital, joined News 12 this morning to discuss the most important health checks for men and when they should be done.
"Men should see a doctor every year or two, depending on their age," said Dr. Hart. "It's important to know your cholesterol profile, not just your total cholesterol, but the whole panel. Review that with your doctor."
Dr. Hart also spoke about dietary changes that can positively impact men's health. He shared tips on using different spices and recipes to make healthier dishes more flavorful and appealing.
