A White Plains woman has been inducted into the American Heart Association's 2025 Go Red for Women Class of Survivors.
Tania Saiz said she was misdiagnosed before a CT scan showed she had a stroke.
She said the frightening scenario left her feeling let down by her medical providers.
She's now using her experience to encourage others to advocate for themselves.
"Women oftentimes get misdiagnosed or dismissed in terms of their symptoms. [It] is definitely something that I've learned about and something that's important to me," Saiz said.
Saiz said she's also sharing her story now because February is Heart Health Month.
