As Hurricane Ida makes landfall in Louisiana, Azline Suber is worried about the safety of her family in nearby Biloxi, Mississippi.
Ida made landfall Sunday afternoon as a category 4 hurricane.
Sixteen years later, on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Suber says it feels like she is going through it all over again.
Her mother suffered a fatal heart attack due to the stresses of Katrina.
Now, Suber waits to hear from her son, daughter and grandchildren, who left their home in Biloxi looking for safety.
“When I see 16 years ago, with my mom and what I went through trying to find everybody again, I’m going through it again,” says Suber. “When is this going to stop?”
For now, until she hears from her family, Suber is taking comfort from photographs, her faith and her husband, Monte.
