A combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain turned Rockland and Orange county roads into a frozen mess Tuesday. Drivers had to navigate through treacherous conditions for the afternoon and evening commutes, which slowed down traffic for much of the night. Cars slowed to a crawl on Route 303, the New York State Thruway and Palisades Parkway.
Snow plows readied to accommodate drivers as the snow fell.
A winter weather advisory was issued for Rockland County and Orange County had a winter storm warning.
