One minute and 24 seconds into his first-ever Bare Knuckle Boxing Championship fight in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, "Sir" Douglas LoBasso showed everyone he's the real deal.
The win is the latest milestone in a journey that began when LoBasso started boxing at around 15 years old.
He later found a home at Animals MMA in Yonkers, where he continues to train six days a week.
"It's pretty much a six-day-a-week thing," LoBasso said. "It's a lot of cardio conditioning, and then we work on the actual skill of bare-knuckle boxing with my coaches."
Before joining Animals MMA, LoBasso boxed with the Yonkers Police Department as a teenager.
At the gym, he met coach Butters Salazar, who has worked with him for the past five years.
"We've been doing pads twice a week for five years," Salazar said. "He's going to keep up that consistency. I want him to take it as far as he wants to take it."
Now riding the momentum of his debut win, LoBasso is back in the gym preparing for what's to come next.
He says he hopes his success inspires others to pursue their goals and believe in themselves.
"It's your life," LoBasso said. "You can create whatever you want to be."
